I think his mom was a lawyer and father was an investment banker -- or something like that. But I didn't know that he had a possible connection to IBM. What I didn't know and what they never got in to in the movie was Bill Gates' background. He apparently had a huge trust fund to fall back on because one of his grandparents was part of some huge US bank. It also didn't mention a possible connection through his mom to one of the board members at IBM. I'm not saying Jobs had no connections, just that I found out about Gates' parents after seeing the movie and felt let down that they presented everybody as pretty much middle-class hacker kids.
